James Vivian Martyn

The man whose records I've seen wasn't a pilot as far as I could work out but a technical man on the ground.

RAF Museum provides these Casualty forms below which match up with RFC and RAF service records. B 1894, son of George F Martyn. Easy to find on census etc. Died 1971.

Attached 53 Squdn (rather than 52) early on but no pilot qualification noted so are you sure the photo with wings and the wings themselves are for the same man?

Blimey he certainly moved around a lot….

as most of you know I inherited most of these items and they were somewhat mixed up with scraps of labels etc, most found during the 1970”s & 1980’s long before the information we now find was easily available.

at least now we can correct any errors and appreciate the correct service these chaps gave for King and Country.

thank you to all who helped unravel this story.
