Robin V Posted 7 January Share Posted 7 January Good evening. It's quite a while since I've posted here, but I need help identifying a possible, Entrenching Tool. I found it in the area around the Maltz Horn Farm Trench. An area I visit regularly, as my Grandfather was wounded there in August 1916. It may not even be WW1, perhaps it is more modern. It is only14 inch long. The shaft from a British WW1 Helve will not quite fit, being an ever so slightly different shape. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. This is not a British Army Entrenching Tool. The 1908 Pattern can be found at https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30013895 I believe the item you have is a Pick Axe Head which could date to World War Two, and maybe World War One, though I am not sure on the latter. Robin V Posted 8 January Author Share Posted 8 January Thanks you Gunner. I have a 1908 pattern which I found in the same area. I managed to get a shaft at an antique arms fair. I am beginning to think the pick maybe post WW1
