Admin kenf48 Posted 6 January Admin Share Posted 6 January I assume you have all the records and war diaries etc from the Canadian records, nevertheless it helps if you are more specific The Military Medal was awarded during the 3rd Battle of the Scarpe which was a phase of the Battle of Arras. Without digging deeper I guess his battery was supporting the 1st Canadian Division. The gun was subject to counter-battery fire, or the 'artillery duels' which were a feature of the Great War. As a start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Arras_(1917) As a matter of interest Farbus is quite close to Vimy Ridge and the Canadian War Memorial The DCM was awarded for action during a phase of the Hundred Days Offensive https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/from-amiens-to-armistice-the-hundred-days-offensive as noted on the record at the Battle of Drocourt-Queant again as a start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Drocourt-Quéant_Line You will see from the entry seven VCs were awarded that day to men in the attacking Canadian forces. Battles were named after the war by the Battles Nomenclature Committee see also https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/battles/battles-of-the-western-front-in-france-and-flanders/ You may get more detail on the DCM from the war diary
