Gunner Bailey Posted 2 January Share Posted 2 January I've just come across a map of Kent which is based upon a 1/2" England Training Map - Sheet 40. It is stamped "Secret" Independent Force and has been dated 16th July 1918. The map itself has been marked with various references :- Roads under military Control & Reserved for Military Purposes Evacuation Route for Manston Aerodrome Evacuation Route of Civil Population Evacuation Route of IW & Docks (Sandwich area) _______________________________________________ I had heard of the Connaught Rangers being and 'Independent Force', patrolling the cliffs around Dover, but this map covers the whole of East Kent Maidstone eastwards. Any clues out there, as to who might have used this map?

Gunner Bailey Posted 2 January Author Share Posted 2 January Thanks David that's very interesting. Quite a large organisation. Were they troops in training or more of a 'Home Guard'?
