Lyn Macdonald reference to English speaking Germans in the trenches

Hello again, it's been a while.

I'd be grateful for anyone who can help me to remember in which of Lyn Macdonald's books she describes in detail interactions between Tommies and Germans. It relates to the fact that many Germans had lived and worked in Britain before the war, as waiters say.
