Hi all. I got this nice 1914 dated (1942 reissue) spotting scope. no.38 mk1 or, variable power telescope no2 mk1 depending on which stamps you read. can anyone help with identifying what kind of tripod/ mount it would go on? I cant seem to find any information on them

I think this might be an optical sight for an artillery piece (telescope, sighting) rather than a "spotting scope". If I am correct then it would mount on an artillery piece, rather than have a stand alone tripod.

Chris

Edit: a quick online browse seems to suggest these were used on Naval guns.
