Happy New Year to you All

I have just looked been looking at a casualty who is buried in Gommecourt Number 2 Cemetery. His name is Pte C LLoyd SWB 6th Battalion and noticed the comment in the column where it shows where the body was found. I says Consecrated by Flying Squad Mackenzie. It's the first time I have ever seen this what does it mean? does anybody know.

Regards

Andy

Looks like his body was originally found at G.10.a.25.60     looks to have been found in 1918.

possibly buried and marked in consecrated ground (a previous religious establishment) or the ground was consecrated for the burial.

were the police Flying Squad involved after the war in finding and identifying remains. Or was there a RAF Officer Mackenzie.

Maybe ask a question to the CWGC

Hi Chaz, Happy New Year.

Sorry for the late reply. Think's for replying with that information. I will contact the CWGC and see what they have to say. Cheers
