LisaG Posted 24 December , 2023 Share Posted 24 December , 2023 Hi, we’ve come across this bayonet while unpacking in our new (old) house. I’ve googled and came up with a 1907 Hooked Quillion - we aren’t sure if this is a genuine or replica. There isn’t many markings on it. Theres a serial number on the end and a small design. If anyone can shed some light please

That's a Japanese Type 30 Bayonet made by the Kokura Arsenal, and originally designed for the Japanese Arisaka Type 30 Rifle. Whilst it provided much of the design inspiration for the British 1907 Pattern bayonet (including the hooked quillon) it is a completely different beast. Originals are very common, and as far as I'm aware they have not been copied. AndyBsk Posted 24 December , 2023 Share Posted 24 December , 2023 When in front of digit is 2 it could be already pre 1923 Tokyo Koishikawa arsenal production. Bayonet was nickeled postwar probably.
