Court martial — research process to follow

Thanks to the generosity of forum members I know that my ancestor was dismissed the service after a court martial. I have the London Gazette reference that records the event. I know from the medal record cards when he was commissioned.

What I would like to know is the steps I would need to take to in order to establish what the actual details were that lead him to be being dismissed.

Grateful if forum members would be kind enough and share how they would approach answering such a question which also may be of more general interest.

Once again thank you to forum members for their past and future help.
