Admin DavidOwen Posted 20 December , 2023 Admin Share Posted 20 December , 2023 Had a very quick look at FMP newspapers but didn't find anything helpful, yet. What is on the reverse of the card?

Admin DavidOwen Posted 20 December , 2023 Admin Share Posted 20 December , 2023 That's a shame. "City Battalions" may offer a clue and it is obviously after Feb 1916. What might be the significance of them being sent to NoK rather than the men themselves one wonders?

Is he correct That is not what the card actually says. It says they are to be kept by the next of kin "until the man to whom the box is destined returns on leave or home from Germany". So it looks likely that they were sent out in 1919? BillyH. Edited 20 December , 2023 by BillyH

BillyH Posted 20 December , 2023 Share Posted 20 December , 2023 The Liverpool Pals were the King's Liverpool 17th - 20th City Battalions. Manchester had City Battalions. There were probably others, the Long Long Trail may give more information. BillyH.
