Christmas tin to widows

That's a shame.

"City Battalions" may offer a clue and it is obviously after Feb 1916. What might be the significance of them being sent to NoK rather than the men themselves one wonders?

That is not what the card actually says. It says they are to be kept by the next of kin "until the man to whom the box is destined returns on leave or home from Germany".

So it looks likely that they were sent out in 1919?

What Battalions are classified as city Battalions are these pals Battalion or others such as London and Manchester Regiments. Only asking as I don't know

The Liverpool Pals were the King's Liverpool 17th - 20th City Battalions. Manchester had City Battalions. There were probably others, the Long Long Trail may give more information.
