MikeyH Posted 15 December , 2023 Share Posted 15 December , 2023 I was fortunate to pick up this lithographic artists proof print recently at a local auction. It is number 34 of a portfolio af 60 drawings dating from 1916. The subject is 'Welsh Soldiers - between Vlamertinghe and Ypres'. It was published by 'Country Life' in1917, by authority of the War Office, and is a limited run of 50 prints. It is signed in pencil by the artist. The image size is 17" x 9" approx., it has been nicely framed and glazed, probably in the 1970's. Most of the drawings by Bone are much more detailed, this has the feel of one done very quickly, possibly in a front line trench situation. There is a another one in the Imperial War Museum, I wonder how many more have survived? Mike.
