Inchmeaders Posted 5 December , 2023 Share Posted 5 December , 2023 Hi. New to this group and wondering if anyone can help. I’m transcribing my grandfathers war memoirs which I’ve just discovered in a couple of old exercise books. They were written in retrospect in the 1960s. He served as a driver/gunner and despatch runner (Don.R) in the Arras & Cambrai area from late 1916 - 1918. He was with the RFA attached to the 56th London Territorial Division, 280th Brigade. His recall for place names is very good but I’m completely stumped by one as he describes it being called ‘Dogknees’ by the troops as that was the nearest they could come to pronouncing it. Having exhausted my search capabilities I just wondered if anyone has come across it? Thanks

Inchmeaders Posted 5 December , 2023 Author Share Posted 5 December , 2023 Thanks so much! I’ve scoured maps looking for it but must have been looking in the wrong direction. That’s great. 😃

Inchmeaders Posted 5 December , 2023 Author Share Posted 5 December , 2023 Thanks. I just needed the name for that one place as I’ve been able to decipher all the others.
