Steve Conway Posted 29 November , 2023 Share Posted 29 November , 2023 Hi all, I recently acquired these boots with the understanding they were WW2 German U-boat boots, these were to go with the U-boat leather mechanics outfit I have. However, I have been advised that they are not WW2 German U-boat boots. I have tried researching what they might be and the nearest I have found has been some wooden soled German boots dated 1915 that have the same buckles that were used for winter wear. There are no markings that I can find and they have a felt like lining, does anyone have any advice as to what they might be? Any help greatly appreciated. ZIL Posted 2 December , 2023 Share Posted 2 December , 2023 They are similar to miners boots worn in the NE of England…but without the irons. Some of the ‘patches’ look like metal. There will be somebody with deeper knowledge on mining footwear who can maybe enlighten further. I have also in mind the ‘clay kickers’.But they could have no connection to warfare..just a pair of boots!! Regards Zil
