And why? many thanks The cuff rank was formed from ‘drab’ (brownish khaki) worsted herringbone lace and embroidered crowns, plus stars based upon the Star of the Order of the Bath (aka Bath Star). They were a largely standard pattern but not worn by the Guards (horse and foot) or general officers.
