Hello all

!.jpg.09c6a5098d879f137fde0f53380e2424.jpg I'm having a bit of trouble working out some comments on an ancestors service record. He was attested 12 Dec 1915 and posted 27 Jan 1917. He was classified B1 on his medical and served in a Reserve Bdg Anti aircraft unit in the RHG. He lived in Camden so I'm guessing he was in the London area.

The first comment is ‘Brought to notice of sec; of state for ? services 'in connection with aa Defence Uk' then a communique No which I cant quite make out 'communique a?? 14.5.??'

Would anyone know what he had been doing and if I could find out more.

Then there are some entries where he is in hospital but is discharged to certain duties but I can’t make out what. See photo.

Any help greatly appreciated

Mick

I could easily read that as:

"Brought to notice of Secretary of State for valuable services in connection with Anti-Aircraft Defences UK"

I'd read as "Fourteen days Light duties" and "Light duties"

For the avoidance of doubt = to gentle duties - I do not read that to mean searchlight duties or similar!

Mick,

The date of the communique was 14th May 1920. It was printed in 'The Times' newspaper on the following day.

Great thanks a lot Alf. He's there, Banister 143980. Now I just need to find out what he did.

Many thanks Mick

Sound like “B” mentions to me

It is a 'B' mention. There won't be a citation explaining thev reason for the mention, although presumably the recipient was told of the reason. It appears that the wrong date is shown on Gunner Banister's record, it should be 28th August 1919.
