ersatz Posted 14 November , 2023 Share Posted 14 November , 2023 I found this to be an interesting unit mark (Siege Telegraph Detachment), as well as a matched set so I picked it up. It is made by ERFURT, and dated W08. Are bayonets marked to Telegraph Detachments uncommon, and scarce?
Rafal1971 Posted 14 November , 2023 Share Posted 14 November , 2023 Certainly rarer than artillery and engineer units, because there were fewer communications units

Steve1871 Posted 14 November , 2023 Share Posted 14 November , 2023 Really cool unit on this piece! Hey Rafal, can you tell what script letter is on the spine? Looks like a “B” but not sure, not common in my humble opinion
AndyBsk Posted 15 November , 2023 Share Posted 15 November , 2023 (edited) Its a fraktur B on spine. Its not script font probably. it corespond with proof on Erfurt. The Telegraphen Abteilung stamp is allway interesting as specialised technical unit, with small numbers of soldiers. ersatz Posted 15 November , 2023 Author Share Posted 15 November , 2023 Thanks Rafal for providing the reference. I now see that there were not many of these specialized troops. Also thanks to Andy & Steve for your comments.

ersatz Posted 12 December , 2023 Author Share Posted 12 December , 2023 Thank you for your comments! I thought the unit marking was most unusual. TED
