Keith_history_buff Posted 14 November , 2023 Share Posted 14 November , 2023 Quote ADM 116 1852-1965 Admiralty: Record Office: Cases This series consists of large groups of papers made into 'cases'; it also includes a few collections of private papers, including those of Sir Eric Geddes and Sir Walter (later Viscount) Long, and a sub-series of files relating to Cabinet Committees. Quote Catalogue description Reference: ADM 116/1438 Description: R.N. Division - Action at Antwerp. Volume 1 Date: 1915 Held by: The National Archives, Kew Former reference in its original department: Case No. 11167 Legal status: Public Record(s) Closure status: Open Document, Open Description It must be similar to the official history files, in terms of its content. I see nothing to suggest that it would contain what you refer to as 1 hour ago, NR72 said: the muster rolls for the RND on National Archives ? Keith_history_buff Posted 14 November , 2023 Share Posted 14 November , 2023 There is the 1914 Star medal roll. This can be accessed online via the likes of FindMyPast. This lists the men in the various battalions of the RND. There is an online roll compiled by John Marshall, as part of his Jack Clegg Memorial research. It is accessible via FMP, this "soup" contains all of his rolls https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search- ... and-awards FWR https://uk.forceswarrecords.com/publica ... -1914-1918 Fold3 https://www.fold3.com/publication/1279/ ... -1914-1918 It has been published in paper format by Fevyer & Wilson in 2012. For a fee, I believe it can be viewed online via Google Play. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=xFG-BAAAQBAJ&
NR72 Posted 14 November , 2023 Author Share Posted 14 November , 2023 Yeah have all that thanks , the ADM reference was in the back of Hood Bn book , the complete muster roll for the Battalion for deployment to MEF. Just wondered if it offered up all the Battalions, not just for Gallipoli but for Western front

The ectract taken from ADM 116/1438 and used in the Appendix to "The Hood Battalion" (Sellers) is "The muster roll of the Hood taken on board the transport en route to Antwerp." Nothing to do with the MEF. To the best of my knowledge, it is the only muster roll in that set of documents at TNA. ADM 116/1439 is Volume 2 of RND action at Antwerp. I think that reference is also devoid of muster rolls. Edited 14 November , 2023 by horatio2
