charlie962 Posted 9 November , 2023 Share Posted 9 November , 2023 Anthony Clayton's Paths of Glory is an excellent book on the French Army and puts the mutinies in context.
AOK4 Posted 9 November , 2023 Share Posted 9 November , 2023 I think a lot of nonsense is being told about these mutinies. It is not as if the whole French army didn't want to fight any more, they just didn't want to attack without any chance on success any more. Units were also involved at different times and on different scales (some more widespread than others). It is not as if the German army could just walk to Paris if they would have wanted or known about the mutinies as is often said (they did know there was something going on). That is simply not correct. One can't just gather his divisions and order them to advance, it doesn't work like that. Jan
