MartinN Posted 8 November , 2023 Share Posted 8 November , 2023 I have a couple of WW1 sniper scopes both in good condition. a British ALDIS scope dated 1915 and a German OIGEE Berlin. thinking about selling. Does anyone know the value of these.
Chasemuseum Posted 8 November , 2023 Share Posted 8 November , 2023 Value depends very much on condition and how complete they are, case, mounts etc.
MartinN Posted 9 November , 2023 Author Share Posted 9 November , 2023 Just the actual scope, no mounts or cases. The scope themselves have been serviced with a view to mounting again on a rifle.
Pete_C Posted 11 November , 2023 Share Posted 11 November , 2023 An eBay UK sale from two weeks ago. Commercial mounts added post-war by John Rigby & Co, but comes with original case (and rare focus locking tool) and retains most of the original finish which adds considerably to the value. Pete_C Posted 11 November , 2023 Share Posted 11 November , 2023 (edited) And would you believe it, also eBay UK, sold one week ago. Also with case and mounts - I know very little about German scopes but given that it appears to be genuine and in excellent condition, I thought it would have fetched far more than it did.
