Can anyone ID this buckle for me

I wondered if it was from a chin strap of a helmet I came across it at Neuve Chapelle

Suspect it is WW2 or latter. It appears to be a cast brass buckle with a pivoting wedge to grip a webbing strap. The US Army used that style of buckle on the 1-inch web waist belt used for the non-combat uniform in WW2 and after. Your example appears to be for about a half inch strap, which makes me think it is post WW2 and from some sort of pack or haversack.
