Tenth Cruiser Squadron questions

Hello Everyone,

Regarding 10th Cruiser Squadron, is there a list of how many vessels taken for examination were eventually condemned? How many obviously German were sunk at sea?

and

There is a notation in Scrimgeour's diary onboard HMS Crescent of an action with a German manned Norwegian tanker on Oct 21, 1914. The vessel being armed and returning fire. Vessel taken in for examination and later condemned. HMS Crescent's deck log notations in naval-history-net Oct 21, 1914 indicates Norwegian (tank)steamer CHR. KNUDSON taken in for examination. Searching for the ship's history shows it was still under Norwegian flag until sunk by German submarine in 1916.  Also, HMS Endymion was present and deck log at same site repeats the information of the vessel taken in for examination.

Appears probable the shells Scrimgeour heard were the stop ship signals?  I am assuming his view of the action was obscured by his duty station, other vessels, distance, etc. and the remainder filled in by gossip.

What say ye?

Oddly enough I recall reading in some contemporary newspapers an account of a disguised German tanker being taken by blockaders.

Regards

FC
