Marco Posted 21 June , 2003 Share Posted 21 June , 2003 From our website: When we visited the Soissons Memorial to the Missing a few years ago we found it fenced off and the gate locked. Although a hassle when you wanted to photograph a particular name the memorial was safe. We revisited in June this year and found that the fence was gone. As was to be expected for a memorial in a medium sized town there was litter all over and someone apparently found it necessarily to deface the memorial by adding information (see picture). Paul Reed Posted 21 June , 2003 Share Posted 21 June , 2003 Sorry to see that - have you alerted CWGC so that action can be taken? I have always found it one of the most difficult memorials to find and visit; pity it wasn't built in a more rural location.
Hedley Malloch Posted 22 June , 2003 Share Posted 22 June , 2003 Yes, I saw this when I was there last week. I meant to drop Roy Hemlington of the CWGC an email - I will do it tomorrow.
