Mark Hone Posted 27 October , 2023 Share Posted 27 October , 2023 Apologies if it's been mentioned before but I noticed on my recent visit to Ieper that the CWGC Visitor Centre will soon to moving to bigger premises on the other side of Menenstraat, right by the Gate, in what used to be a clothes shop. Many years ago it was a bar where the buglers were known to have a drink. I have vague recollections of going in one evening to be assailed by the-then obligatory cloud of cigarette smoke. What was the bar called?

Mark Hone Posted 27 October , 2023 Author Share Posted 27 October , 2023 (edited) There used to be a shop opposite where you could buy a cooked chicken after the Last Post Ceremony. Certainly a lot has changed since those days. Makes me realise how long I've been visiting Ieper: 36 years this November, when I went on the WFA's 'Remembrance Tour'.
