MikeyH Posted 26 October , 2023 Share Posted 26 October , 2023 (edited) Originally published in 1930 'Everyman at War', consists of sixty personal accounts covering the Great War. The majority of these are of France and Flanders, just three under 'In the Air'. 'The Circus' by F.Suckling tells of nineteen year old newly qualified pilots being sent to the sector where they would be up against the Richthofen Circus. This captures well the flying experiences of these young men. An incongruous note is struck, when we learn, that apparently when the Red Baron's body was examined, he was found to be wearing red underwear. Another account entitled 'August to November 1918', by H.F.Taylor reveals that a member of his squadron, Biddard by name was known to rouge his cheeks and redden his lips. He was shot down and taken prisoner behind the German lines, sadly leaving behind his rouge and lipstick. Mike.
