Guest Diccon Posted 14 April , 2005 Share Posted 14 April , 2005 88 years ago today my grandfather 30883 Cpl. S B (Bert) Law 2 KOYLI was killed in action near Fayet. He has no known grave. I have attached an account of his death. Using this and the KOYLI regimental history I was able to find the site of this action to within a few hundred yards. The area was fought over for much of the remainder of the war. From the accounts it appears that a tactical withdrawal was followed by artillery fire and a subsequent advance so the non recovery of his body is understandable. I hope that the batallion diary will give me additional information. In the same action Sgt Ormsby won the VC Dicccon.
