Highland Doublet - feasibility of restoration?

Beyond darning and sewing on buttons I have no needlework skills or experience, however I am a sucker for highland doublets and just added failed to pass by another one.

It was cheaper than the full set of matched maker(Buttons Limited Birmingham) GS buttons that it sports (30 in all!) and is in overall better than average shape EXCEPT a huge amount of damage (mothing I assume but it is the worst I have ever seen) to the right side of the collar.

I know there are members with significant expertise in such things so - is repair/restoration feasible here and if so - where might the material (yellow wool) be sourced. Perhaps it would have to be salvaged from an another doublet that is damaged elsewhere but if there might be a source of the material (or similar) I would be interested.

One reason I was particularly taken with this doublet was the label - in most of my others, even those in near perfect shape only remnants of the label remain - whereas this one has a really nice example:

Thanks in advance

I almost bid on this.  I think something like Melton cloth would work.  They use it to make decent reproductions of doublets so I think any competent tailor could replace the collar and piping.

You could always contact Hainsworth for advice Chris, they were preeminent among the original clothiers contracted to provide cloth for the Royal Army Clothing Department factory.  They still provide cloth for the ministry of defence.  https://www.hainsworth.co.uk
