Remembered Today:

Cannot find 1914 Star medal roll for Durham Light Infantry

Once again I am having difficulty with the medal rolls for 1914 Star: I cannot find the one for Durham Light Infantry, (2nd DLI went to France with 6th Division on 10 Sept 1914 so there should be one.) If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance, William

That's perfect! (Silly me, I should have guessed that Ancestry had catalogued Durham Light Infantry as Highland Light Infantry....)  Many thanks!

I found it by looking for a known DLI casualty from August -November 1914 and searching for him rather than the regiment.

one thing with the star rolls, they are usually , Initial. Surname.   with the BWM/Vic they are Christian name. Surname.

Ive missed a few in the past because Ive searched for his full name, should have used initial and surname.

Ive only added this for later searches who may be looking for help.
