Richard Stiles Posted 16 October , 2023 Share Posted 16 October , 2023 Can anyone please advise whether or not a discharge to pension due to the amputation of a leg as a result of trench foot would likely qualify the injured man for a wound stripe? He is not technically wounded but lost an essential part of his anatomy while on active service. The man in question was 28628 Pte. Harold Taylor, West Yorkshire Regiment. He was discharged to pension on 14/12/1917. I look forward to hearing members thoughts. Many thanks Richard,
Admin RussT Posted 16 October , 2023 Admin Share Posted 16 October , 2023 It's a good question. I don't know for certain but I had always thought that a wound stripe was allotted to those who went on to serve further after being wounded. Chris_Baker Posted 16 October , 2023 Share Posted 16 October , 2023 Did he appear in the official casualty list? If not, he did not qualify for the stripe.
