In memory of 15298 Ernest Young, 10th Glosters, died of wounds at St John’s Hospital Etaples on this day in 1915. Mortally wounded near Lone Tree on 25th September 1915. Ernest left a widow and 3 children, and is remembered on the Castle Combe and Stow on the Wold memorials.

You. being an experienced member. probably have seen there are pension index cards and a pension ledger page at WFA/Fold3 - but just in case, a reminder. You know where I am.

23/- pw from 3.4.16 = 12/6 for widow [standard rate of pension for a pension Class V soldier's/Pte's widow who was >35y] and 5/-, 3/6 and 2/- respectively for the children - SA [Separation Allowance] would have been paid until pension kicked in

PLP indicates Park Street, Stow on the Wold

Other PIC indicates award file was deliberately destroyed 2.8.65
