does LG have the circumstances or just the date?

I think early LG had such details but these were later not included.

Not that I can find right now but there are registers/ledgers of cut out and pasted-in LG entries commonly with date and place added in script - for VC and DSO at least

Others may be able to help you/us find them.

The Register for the DSO and the MC is in the series WO-389-1-0-2, WO-389-2-0-2, WO-389-3-0-2, WO-389-4-0-2, WO-389-5-0-2, WO-389-6-0-2, WO-389-7-0-2 and WO-389-270-3, all downloadable from TNA free of charge.

The Register for the DCM is in the series WO-391-3-0-1, WO-391-4-0-1, WO-391-5-0-1, WO-391-6-0-1, WO-391-6-0-2, WO-391-7-0-2, WO-391-7-0-3 and WO-391-7A-0-1, also downloadable free of charge.

Details are variable but some have the Gazette date, statement of deed and a manuscript entry showing the date of the deed and the location.

Military Medals were invariably Gazetted for "Bravery in the Field" without citations, sometimes (per Allan) they are found in newspapers and occasionally in Battalion War Diaries.

You can search for Gazette entries here https://www.thegazette.co.uk/awards-and-accreditation/ww1 which will give you the date a MM was issued and citations for more "senior medals".

The LG has citations (except for the MM). In the early days the citation tended to include the date of gallantry, but this ceased. The National Archives does have an annotated copy, which if memory serves you can also find online and download there, on which the date and place of the act have been added.
