Remembered Today:

Why no WW1 history of the 3rd Division in print?

Can anybody answer the question as to why no official history of the 3rd Division was ever written; or for that matter, why was no Divisional Memorial ever erected? Given that it arrived in France in Aug 1914, being among the first to arrive; being involved in some of the many key battles and engagements throughout the years to then be part of the Occupation Forces.

Has a well documented history as to its role during WW2 but aside from McNish' book which covers the history from its formation in 1809 to 2000, nothing, aside from the histories some of its component units (and illustrious ones at that) has been written.
