Tilehurst fund-raising for statue marking "women who served"

"As part of this years Turn Tilehurst Red Campaign we are hoping to purchase a statue to honour all the women who worked and helped during the wars past and present. We are hoping that we can raise the amount for one statue and this will be located in Tilehurst Village. Any additional money raised will be donated to the Tilehurst British Legion Poppy Appeal."

I think that the proposed "statue" might be a silhouette. A mural painted as part of the Great War centenary remains on a pub wall in Tilehurst.

(Mods: in my eighteen years with the GWF I've been admonished twice by mods, and once, quite gently, was for innocently promoting a specific military charity, which turned out was/is against the rules. I've deliberately given no links to the campaign, and I don't imagine anyone outside Tilehurst would be interested enough to find out how to donate. But I'll understand if you delete this post.)
