TPK Posted 11 September Share Posted 11 September Hi. I'm new to the forum so apologies if this has been covered previously. I couldn't find it. I'm trying to get an art piece commissioned to commemorate my grandfather's role in WW1. I would like to get it made from recycled and recast old battlefield material, a poignant reminder. I know it's dangerous to source material arising from the Iron Harvest. However, I understand that DOVO and other decommissioning agencies collect the iron harvest and make it safe, shred it and then sell it to scrap yards. Does anyone know how I might source some of this material? Thanks for your help
Admin DavidOwen Posted 13 September Admin Share Posted 13 September Welcome to the forum. Have you considered buying ww1 empty brass shell case/s and having the art work made from same?
TPK Posted 13 September Author Share Posted 13 September Thank you David. Where could I buy empty shells? Sorry if that's a silly question.

No such thing as a silly question. Auction sites such as eBay, The Saleroom etc or try Military Fairs / Car Boots / Antiques fairs and shops. If you search the forum you should be able to find threads which would help you identify such items. Good luck!
