chaz Posted 25 August , 2023 Share Posted 25 August , 2023 is there a doctor in the house? I had posted for help in Skindles for his WW2 Home Guard service, and his son who both died in WW2 but now it looks like Frederick served/enlisted in the 8th OBLI in WW1. As there is no service record, or medal entitlement, Im wondering as his health was supposed to be good on attestation, why he has a pensions record. Looks like he only stayed in England for a few days, but cant make out what he went to hospital for and was it serious enough to be let go? PRC Posted 25 August , 2023 Share Posted 25 August , 2023 10 minutes ago, chaz said: but cant make out what he went to hospital for Looks like Syncopal attack and he was prescribed tonic treatment and rest. "Syncope is a medical term for a blackout or faint caused by a sudden drop in the supply of blood to the brain, leading to a short-term loss of consciousness." https://www.imperial.nhs.uk/our-services/cardiology/syncope If it looks likely to be recurring then I suspect the army would discharged him no longer physically fit for military service. chaz Posted 26 August , 2023 Author Share Posted 26 August , 2023 Thanks Peter, he was my cousins husband, I've only got interested in him through the family tree. Looks like he never finished in ww1 only to be shot during a rifle shooting competition between local home guard units in ww2.
