Noor Posted 25 August , 2023 Share Posted 25 August , 2023 Hi all, I am trying to research a Merchant Navy man Peter Cooling (1875 – 21 May 1942) from Dublin. So far I only know that he was entitled to British War Medal Mercantile Marine Medal (medal card from National Archive), also Irish Census shows that Peter was born in Dublin around 1875. He became a Chief Officer Mercantile Marine by 1911 already (Census). He married with Mary Cooling 1897 and they lived 112 Seville Place, and they had 4 sons and 3 daughters. Peter died in Patrick Dun's Hospital 21 May 1942 (FindMyPast newspaper archive). He is buried to Glasnevin Cemetery (findagrave website). But is there anything else possible to revile of his service during the WW1? Where he sailed, etc or any other information about him? No information of his WW1 voyages here: Shipping agreements and crew lists, 1863-1921 (nationalarchives.ie) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
