JWK Posted 18 August , 2023 Share Posted 18 August , 2023 (edited) On X-formerly-known-as-Twitter appeared a magnificent photo in my time-line. It looks like an oil-painting: an autochrome photo, dated 1914, of soldiers of the French 4th Spahi Regiment, enhanced by Stuart Humpryes. “Photographed in colour 109 years ago, during the opening months of the First World War, I've enhanced this autochrome of fighters from of the 4th Spahi Regiment - a French Colonial Cavalry Unit. It was taken in colour by Jean-Baptiste Tournassoud in 1914 & is not colourised.” Make sure to scroll through his Twitter account, as there are many more breathtaking photos to enjoy. And there’s also a book! Hmm, this board does not like Twitter apparently, so copy/paste this address for Stuart's x/Twitter feed : twitter.com/StuartHumphryes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Baptiste_Tournassoud Edited 18 August , 2023 by JWK
