YorkshireLass Posted 14 August , 2023 Share Posted 14 August , 2023 (edited) Hi, I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place, but the Halifax Courier (West Yorkshire, England) have now digitised all the WW1 editions of the newspaper, and they are freely available online to be read and searched at https://www.calderdale.gov.uk/wtw/sources/themes/world-war-one.html I hope this can help someone. Coldstreamer Posted 15 August , 2023 Share Posted 15 August , 2023 Thanks for sharing had a quick look and there is more info than you see in many papers so should be a good resource
YorkshireLass Posted 15 August , 2023 Author Share Posted 15 August , 2023 No problem. I’ve found it an invaluable resource. Wish more newspapers would do the same. Malcom Bull’s Calderdale companion is also very useful. He works very hard to maintain the website as I’ve found when sending him new entries I’ve come across in my research. It also covers - as does the Courier - as far out as Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd (locally pronounced as Ma-them-Roy-d) and Sowerby Bridge (pronounced Sorby), Illingworth and Rishworth, so stretches out quite a distance. http://www.calderdalecompanion.co.uk
