BillyH Posted 11 August , 2023 Share Posted 11 August , 2023 An excerpt from the war diary for the 7th Bn. Border Regiment on 15th August 1918 is attached. I am after the name of the Lieutenant in the 3rd line. It looks like Lieut Shinnie or possibly Lieut S. Linnie, he has a M.C. which might help. I cannot find a medal roll or MIC for a similar looking name. Ant help would be much appreciated. BillyH.
Admin DavidOwen Posted 11 August , 2023 Admin Share Posted 11 August , 2023 I would think Thomas Rennie MC is a likely candidate. Admin DavidOwen Posted 11 August , 2023 Admin Share Posted 11 August , 2023 He was involved in a Court of Enquiry as a member of the Board (image courtesy FMP) Full proceedings here British Army Service Records 1914-1920 Image | findmypast.co.uk Looks like he was wounded in 1916 (although suggests he was then with 6Bn Border regiment so it may be another Rennie [length of service is an indicator it may be Thomas]) British Armed Forces, First World War Soldiers' Medical Records Image | findmypast.co.uk
