BillyH Posted 10 August Share Posted 10 August The war diary for the 7th Bn. Border Regiment in September 1917 gives their exact location as map reference 51 B N W. Can anyone tell me where 51 B N W would be. The only other clue from the war diary are mentions of Lichfield Camp near Arras and also Plouvain which is a good few miles east of Arras. BillyH. WhiteStarLine Posted 10 August Share Posted 10 August Hi @BillyH, 51b NW is not an exact location so I suspect there must be other entries that will give you a clue. What it means in plain English is "we're on the north west corner of map 51b". This is defined as a 16 x 10 kilometre rectangle encompassing squares A, B, C, G, H, I. Plouvain can be seen in square I.15 if you click the extract to enlarge.
