stripeyman Posted 19 August , 2023 Share Posted 19 August , 2023 The two lower photos are the same airfield, is it Duxford ?
ROBPUGH Posted 19 August , 2023 Share Posted 19 August , 2023 Fantastic photos Paul. Stripeyman - The two lower photos show different aerodromes - Fowlmere and Duxford. Very similar because I assume they built them to a standard plan.
mickdavis Posted 19 August , 2023 Share Posted 19 August , 2023 They might have been built to a standard layout, but Fowlmere had sliding doors to its 1918 pattern GS sheds, whereas Duxford had the Esavian folding doors. Consequently, Fowlmere's sheds had the distinctive brick gantries at either side of the door openings.
Stereoview Paul Posted 20 August , 2023 Author Share Posted 20 August , 2023 Sorry I should have written out the caption as as there is a nasty crease through the original title at the top of the Fowlmere photo. Interesting info about the doors, I had not spotted that Thank You.
