MaureenE Posted 15 July , 2023 Share Posted 15 July , 2023 (edited) Seen on another Forum There is now a cheaper £2.50 option "Online view digital images" available for some, but not all birth and death records. If available, this format is cheaper and faster that a PDF format record, but has the following disadvantages; firstly there are no headings; secondly some images are slanted, or misaligned enough to make some of the information on the entry unreadable or missing entirely, but in this case you may request a refund; thirdly marginal notes, if they are there, are not shown and they can sometimes be very important to see. https://www.whowhenwheregenealogy.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=750 by AntonyM I suspect that the records available in this format are those where a pdf format is currently available, and therefore would not include Overseas records. No marriage records are available in this format. https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/images/CGOVPublicBeta.pdf GRO Guide, available through the GRO website https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp Maureen Edited 15 July , 2023 by MaureenE

KernelPanic Posted 17 July , 2023 Share Posted 17 July , 2023 Thanks, that's very useful! Fast and cheaper than the usual pdf. I notice that the headers are at the top of the page where the image appears rather than on the image itself, so they are there. Also when I downloaded the certificate the .jpg file would not open as an image file. There was a warning saying that the file was corrupted or was incomplete (Mac OS 12.6). I had to capture it as a screenshot.
