Will O'Brien Posted 9 April , 2005 Author Share Posted 9 April , 2005 & the cemetery info Cemetery: HAUTE-AVESNES BRITISH CEMETERY Country: France Locality: Pas de Calais Location Information: Haute-Avesnes is a village 9 kilometres west of Arras on the south side of the Arras-St Pol road. The British Cemetery is north of the village on the road leading to Habarcq (C.2). Historical Information: The 51st (Highland) Division started the cemetery in July 1916 and it continued to be used by field ambulances of the divisions holding this part of the line. The cemetery contains 142 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and eight German war graves. The cemetery was designed by A J S Hutton.
