Can anyone provide some information on this item? Is this a WW2 Scottish military cap of some kind?

It’s a Clan Cameron badge I think, and neither British Regular Army, nor Militia.  A civilian artefact.

Thanks very much for the info.

It certainly looks as if the bonnet has lost its original colouring, I don’t think that it was the dusty colour that it is now.

It is not a WW2 Scottish military cap.  It was at one time a top quality civilian item from the oldest bespoke tailor in Scotland, Stewart Christie & Co. Ltd, (Est. 1720) and is likely mid-War. The firm is still in business.

The "Cameron" connection, accurately identified by Frogsmile, likely comes from the Taylor component of Hanchet-Taylor - Taylor being a sept of Clan Cameron.

There is a Great War A. J. Hanchet-Taylor who was a Pte in the AVC/RAF.

I'll leave it at that.
