Airshipped Posted 28 June , 2023 Share Posted 28 June , 2023 Hi, I'm sure that quite a number of people have made a stab at this over the years. I've often encountered an MBE here and there (quite apart from all the Royal Red Cross awards) but have never systematically recorded them. I was wondering if anyone is compiling this data? For what it's worth, here's one I stumbled across the other day, an unusual example of a description accompanying the MBE. Marjorie Beryl Brisley, WRAF, made a gallant attempt at extricating the occupants of a crashed aeroplane on 17 December 1918. Brisley was credited with rescuing one and assisting in the removal of the second member of the aircrew: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31378/supplement/7035 As may be noted, although it was an incident in December 1918 I'd imagine there was little/no prospect of this being considered for the New Year's Honours List. I'm nevertheless surprised it didn't feature as a media item prior to the King's Birthday honours.
