Identify Regiment Help required

I have a query, two brothers served during the Great War with one paying the ultimate sacrifice. I know which one died but I have come across a photograph of one of them in uniform. One served with the Royal Scots, the other with the Cameronians.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Swally

Yes it does look like a Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) Piper, Michel, but the buttons should be black.  Perhaps only general service buttons were available.  Until the 1st and 2nd Battalions were finally merged in 1947 they each maintained some of the traditions and elements of dress of their forebears the 26th (Cameronians) and 90th (Perthshire Light Infantry) and this included differing sporrans for their pipers, one with 3 tassels (2nd Batt) and the other with 2 tassels (1st Batt).

No, you would expect to see two white tassels on the sporran of a Cameron Highlanders piper.
