Remembered Today:

Letter E on German bayonet blade

Hallo,

Does anyone know what the letter E means?
One minted on the blade 98/05 n.A.
Different for a ersatz for the blade and for the scabbard but in the EH set.
They give the impression that they were engraved and not punched (although they are punched).

Looks like not standart marking, it could be stamped later by owner teoretically. On ASG88/98 is something above the E letter. The pieces were found on different places? The E looks identical should be compared with size.

Andy,

The sizes of the letters are different, the same as the font (but very similar) On iron up to the letter there is a German technical control, probably M.

That You known only You how are the sizes, the S98/05 was evidently cleaned so the E could be stamped post this cleaning probably? M on ASG88/98 should be under crown when proof.
