Jonathan Saunders Posted 9 April , 2005 Share Posted 9 April , 2005 I received info this morning that my G/G Uncle Frank Mower of New Haven, Conneticut returned to Europe with the AEF in 1917. He was then aged 37 and had emigrated to the US in 1912. I know WW1 records in the US are scarce but can any of our US pals point me in the right direction. Assuming he joined his State battalion does anyone know the availability of records for Conneticut or anything about the service of companies/battalion relating to this State. in WW1? Thanks for any suggestions.
ArmyOfficer Posted 9 April , 2005 Share Posted 9 April , 2005 try this link: http://www.worldwar1.com/dbc/gen_faq.htm you can also look online at the Connecticut Department of Military Affairs; go to the Army National Guard portion and find the address of the State's Military Museum. They usually have State rosters and records beyond those held by the State Library. Finally, if nothing else, you can try the 42d ID site. If he was from CT there's a chance he might have been a Rainbow soldier and they have a good association.
