Kathryn Knight Posted 16 June , 2023 Share Posted 16 June , 2023 Can anyone help me identify this cap badge? I think it is The Royal Scots Guard but I'm not sure. I don't know of anyone in my family who may have been in that though. It was in a box of trinkets that my grandmother had so I am trying to work out where it came from and who it might have belonged to. Many thanks, Kathryn
Alan24 Posted 16 June , 2023 Share Posted 16 June , 2023 (edited) Royal Scots? Or Scots Guards? Edited 16 June , 2023 by Alan24
FROGSMILE Posted 16 June , 2023 Share Posted 16 June , 2023 (edited) It is Scots Guards if from the WW1 era. There had been a period when both Royal Scots and Scots Guards officers (but not men) wore forage cap badges that were virtually identical. After some deliberation the Royal Scots adopted a more diamond shaped star as its badge, with less elaborate points, despite the fact that the Royal Scots had been wearing such a badge (based on the Star of the Order of the Thistle) for centuries.
