Welcome to the forum, Lev Snr.  That is a nice bit of comparison work you've presented.

Cheers, Bill

Thank you for your kind words Bill...spent four years rewriting a 1920 book on the 5th North Staffords and ended up a tome of every man who served over 6000..... and covering every death 962 .... all of which had their newspaper photographs included and grave or memorial entry photographed bar about eight lost graves due to being PoWs and are in Cologne or southern Germany. We became the unofficial historians realting to the 5th for the Regimental Museum in Lichfield as a result. Me and my good lady also tracked down the 'lost' wall hanging that covered the entire experiences of the 5th NSR Battalion. Both were something of a mammoth task particularly the canvas which is 69 ft long and 9 ft high but when it was referred to as the British Bayeux tapestry and a national treasure by the Daily Mail we were over the moon. There is a story behind that too but heyho we will leave that for another day.

Thanks Richard but no...we're proud of all the men who served and it was a labour of love to record  what they did. As a four generation family who have all served in some capacity since the Boer War to the 21st century it was a worthwhile exercise from which we took a great deal of pleasure doing. Ich Dien !
