Remembered Today:

Munitions Magazines

Bombshell

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

A few years ago I successfully completed my Masters by Research in History. This was conducted around a Magazine (The Bombshell) which was put together by the managers and workers at the Templeborough Factory.

I am now looking at revisiting this by exploring similar magazines of the time. I am aware that there is the GeorgeTown Magazine from the Scottish Filling factory but was wondering if members on here are aware of any other in which they could point me in the direction of?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards.

There’s the Ministry of Munitions journal, 25 volumes of which were published between December 1916 and December 1918.

The Georgetown Gazette was a magazine by the workers of the Scottish Filling Factory. Designed to be a light hearted, morale boosting distraction from their essential yet extremely dangerous work, made up of gossip, departmental group photos and poems etc.

Ministry of munitions journal was an official journal published by the ministry and aimed at engineers and management, sharing new legislation, information on industrial matters eg new machinery, railways, steel, shells etc.

I wouldn't say 25 volumes but certainly 25 issues. They were monthly soft cover magazines.
